The Cuties Award

Get ready to enter your stories to win the 2021 Cuties award!

IMPORTANT: WE ONLY PUBLISH ROMANCE AND ROM COMS in case you've been asleep at the wheel. This means it MUST include a love interest and MUST end with a happily ever after (HEA) or happily for now (HFN). This means no one can die at the end.

  • Submit work as an attachment in a standard format (doc, docx, rtf). Please ensure that the document does not need permission for opening.

  • Title the document Title_Author, so as an example, if my name is Mary Jones and my piece is titled Too Tight Thongs, my document would be titled: TooTightThongs_MaryJones.docx.

  • In the body of the email, include the word count and specify whether it's rom com or romance. Please also include subgenres if there are any.

  • Include a 75 words or less bio and it's optional, but a picture too. We like readers to meet our contributors.

  • IMPORTANT: Include your Twitter handle. We announce our chosen stories via Twitter, so we need your handle to tag you and give you your due credit!

  • In the subject of the email, put Submissions: Title. So in Mary's email, the subject would be: Submissions: Too Tight Thongs.

  • Submissions should be single-spaced with a double space between paragraphs and not indented. (These are standard submission guidelines for the web.)

  • Include a 140-character summary of your piece in the body of the email. Please put a little time and effort into this, as it will be the teaser to get folks to click on your article. If you screw this up, we reserve the right to revise it for you. That's 140 CHARACTERS not 140 WORDS, folks. (This is not to torture you, we promise. It's the limit of the summary box in our blogging program.)

  • Submissions should be free of grammatical or formatting errors.

  • Don't worry about a fancy cover letter. Just put in what is requested above and if you love us, you can tell us that too. Otherwise, keep it simple, we bore quickly.

  • Did you include your Twitter handle? Okay, just checking...

Rights and Payment:

  • At this time we are unable to pay our authors, but we hope to change that soon.

  • We ask for one-time non-exclusive digital rights. All rights revert to the author upon publication.

Submissions that do not follow guidelines cannot be considered. Our email address is and you’ll get a decision from us within about a week.
